Many grooming options are available for your furry friend depending of a number of factors: condition of the coat, age, temperament, coat type, breed, as well as your individual preferences as an owner. When we see your dog in person, we can better determine what choices are available for you.

We only use premium shampoos from Nature Specialties because we care about your pet and their environment. These products are biodegradable, non-toxic and are made of nature’s purest ingredients. Not all coats are the same, from the silky smooth finish of a Maltese to the crispness of the terriers, these products are customized for different coat types. There are also conditioning shampoos, oatmeal for itchy skin and a hypo-allergenic shampoo. All shampoos used on the face are gentle and tearless.

In addition to this product line, we also have a mild flea & tick shampoo and de-skunking products at an additional fee.  

Below are the grooming packages and the add-ons that Dawn of a New Day can offer:

Full Groom package includes a 15-minute brush out, nail trim, shave the pads of the feet, shave the hygiene area (if needed), clean the ears, bath, blow dry and a hair cut.

Note: If the dog is matted and you want us to brush them out rather than being clipped, dematting fees will apply. If we think the dog is severely matted, we will not brush them since this would be too painful for the dog. We believe in humanity over vanity. 

Bath & Tidy service is a great choice for return customers (mostly with non-shedding breeds.) Sometimes you don’t want a hair cut but in between you want to have your dog brushed out and bathed. This is especially true in the winter when many owners are afraid the dog will be too cold if clipped too short. We will brush and remove any tangles before the mats start.  We will also trim the nails, shave the pads of the feet and shave the hygiene area. Finishing off with ear cleaning, bath and blow dry.

Note: A full body hair cut is not part of this service, but we can include touch ups around the face and feet.

Hygiene trim includes a nail trim, shave the hygiene area, touch ups to the face, feet and shave the pads. There is no bath with this service.

Puppy bathing package is for pups under 6 months. This initiation session isto help your new pet to get used of the grooming process. A full brush out, bath and gentle blow dry will be performed along with shaving the pads, clipping the nails, ear cleaning and tidy of the sanitary area (as needed.) 

Note: A full body hair cut is not part of this service, but we can include touch ups around the face and feet.

Handstripping can be performed on harsh, wire coated breeds such as wired haired dachshund, wired haired pointer and most terriers. This specialized service is done by hand as the name implies and requires more grooming time than a clipped the coat, however, it helps to maintain the rich color and texture of the coat. This service must be done on a regular schedule (every 6-8 weeks).

Dematting services can be performed on some dogs. The groomer will assess the condition of your pet’s coat to see if a dematting session is possible without hurting or damage the skin of your best friend. We believe in humanity over vanity!

Deshedding session is a great way to keep your dog looking great and keeping your home a little cleaner. Designed for natural (shedding) breeds, we brush out all the tangles before mats begin and get rid of that unwanted loose fur. Not only will this keep fur off your floor but if you bath your dog at home or your dog likes to swim, removing the undercoat will help your dog dry a lot faster and can help eliminate that "wet dog smell."

Nail Clipping is exactly that. No appointment is necessary but you may want to call ahead of time to make sure some one will be here to help you. Perfect for optimal paw health and beautiful, athletic gait! The nails are trimmed as short as possible to maintain a healthy foot.

Nail grinding can be done after the nail trim to file and round the ends of the nails.

Tooth brushing is our most popular add-on. It is a great way to maintain the teeth of dogs when performed regularly. Keep that sparkling white smile on your best friend. Teeth are brushed with a tooth brush and enzymatic tooth paste especially designed for the canine.

PlaqClnz Oral Cleansing is a great service for removing plaque and tartar from dogs teeth. We tested this on our own dogs and were really impressed with the results. To start you apply an oral gel to the inside of the teeth everyday for a minimum of 3 weeks which will soften the tartar. This is followed by an oral irrigation appointment. During this process a spray is applied and left in the mouth for 30 minutes and followed up with cleansing treatment using an irrigator similar to a "waterpik" to remove the plaque and the tartar. This service cannot replace the full dentistry that a veterinarian would perform, however it is a great way to maintain the teeth before they get to that point.   

Facial Scrub enhance the natural beauty of your pet’s expression. This mild yet concentrated, lightly foaming facial cleanser soothes and balances. It has natural exfoliating activity and is slightly hydrating. The refreshing blend of vanilla and blueberry effectively removes dirt and tear stains, and will not sting eyes. Great for all skin types and all ages of pets.

Collar Wash can be requested. We will wash your pet’s dirty, smelly collar.

Flea shampoo can be applied to your pet when you have an outbreak of fleas or ticks. A natural flea shampoo is applied to the skin and coat during the bathing procedures to eliminate the parasites.

De-skunking is a service we provide to help reduce the odour after your dog has been sprayed by a skunk. Let us help restore that up close relationship with your best friend.  

Anal Glands expression can be performed if your pet needs assistance in this matter to prevent discomfort. The anal glands are checked and expressed on request only. 

Ear cleaning eliminate odors and help prevent ear infections.The underside of the ear leather and the ear canal are gently cleansed with a natural ear cleaning solution designed just for the canine.

Ear ventilation/Ear plucking helps to prevent odours and infections by creating a better air flow. The hair around the ear canal is trimmed to create adequate ventilation. Plucking is also performed on some breeds. The hair is physically removed from the ear canal to prevent ear infections and odours, as well as to promote better hearing. 

Pads are shaved to create the perfect paw print. Your best friend feels safer with perfect paws...the hair that grows in between and over the pads is trimmed to prevent snowballs in the winter and tracking in mud and other debris into your home throughout the year. It also creates a safer environment for pets that live on slick surface.
